Contractors in Marlborough, Maintenance in Marlborough, Sound in Marlborough, Harvesting in Marlborough

In the early 1880s, the Merrill and Ring families came to the Pacific Northwest from timber and lumber business in Michigan and Minnesota, looking for timberland to purchase. By 1945, harvesting on the tree farm was considerably reduced as the bulk of merchantable timber had been depleted. In 1958, Merrill Ring bought a sawmill facility in the Port Angeles harbor. In 1979, and in response to further demand from Japan, the company expanded the site and developed a chip loading facility.
Together these partnerships purchased about 30,00 acres of timberland and significantly expanded its marketing reach to include an office in New Zealand

We recognize from the attainable experiences of growing new forests that the things we do today shape our future. The Washington Forest Practice Rules and Regulations are the base of a federal Habitat Conservation Plan, affording concern to all fish and aquatic defendant species. Merrill Ring’s Hanuka Island plantation in the Wairau River Valley on the South Island was planted between 1994 and 199. That tomorrow will be as fruitful as our stewardship of the many resources we manage and that we all rely on. This plantation is being managed for long term production of radiate Pine and Douglas Fir. The Pysht Tree Farm, located on the North Olympic Peninsula and purchased in 1886, is the oldest tree farm in Washington State calm operated by its creative owners. This smart team of local foresters manages Merrill Ring’s Fresh Zealand investment and offers timberland management and other forestry services to other landowners in the region.
Our third generation crop will remain to produce a healthy combine of native species including Western Hemlock, Sitka Spruce, Douglas Fir, Western Red Cedar and Red Alder. We buy logs delivered in raft form or by truck delivery to our port facilities and manage the logistics, shipping and sales to our customers in Asia. Merrill Ring owns and manages highly fruitful timberland throughout Western Washington and Oregon. Merrill Ring is energetic in purchasing, harvesting, merchandising and marketing standing timber from healthy managed lands around the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia and New Zealand.
Today we are focused on purchasing and operating standing timber, and buying logs for delivery to our export facilities. In British Columbia the Private Forest Land Management Act regulates activities, and in Fresh Zealand our forest management is regulated by regional Resource Management Act rules. Much of this property was acquired in the 1880’s and is now growing its third crop of trees. Being in business for over 125 years gives the Merrill Ring owners and managers a long term perspective.
We have operations throughout Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, and Fresh Zealand. All of our operations are conducted to confront or exceed all forest practice regulations in their given jurisdiction. Since 1886, Merrill Ring has been an active and firm participant in the trade of logs, lumber wood chips within the Pacific Northwest and around the Pacific Rim. All of our operations are conducted to confront or exceed forest practice regulations
